Takuma Sato hopes that his Super-Aguri team will not suffer from their winter tests, which have so far proved inconclusive. The Japanese team is present this week in Jerez, Spain, and hopes to make the most of their cars.
Still equipped with Honda engines, it had to restrict the number of tests to address its financial situation, which limits the amount invested in development work.
However, with the return of the SA07B in Jerez, Sato thinks that the team has a lot, a lot of work to catch up on!
« It was difficult for us, of course. But we have faced much more difficulties in recent years than currently. I think this team is capable of making up for the backlog of the past few weeks. I hope the upcoming trials will be a success. »
Super Aguri has made progress by working on their SA08, and passed the crash tests imposed by the FIA last week.
Sato said he shares his team’s frustrations about being sidelined in recent weeks but stated that he is more motivated than ever to move forward.
« We are a little frustrated because we were not able to launch the winter testing program we wanted, » he said.
« But the team is working very hard to get everything done at the same time, so I’m ready to take on this challenge.
Sato’s contract for 2008 has not yet been confirmed by the Super Aguri team, which might wait until the start of the season in Australia to announce its driver lineup.
