A1GP driver Olivier Jarvis is about to sign a contract with Audi for the DTM championship. The German team recently learned of driver Christian Abt’s retirement.
According to the latest information, the Briton appears to be the right man for the job, or at least the one most likely to join Audi’s young drivers program.
« There is Tomczyk, Oliver Jarvis who is very good and who would join Audi, Prémat who is for me one of the best drivers in DTM with Spengler and di Resta, » said Abt.
Jarvis, 24, has already raced in the Japanese F3 category and participated in testing for the McLaren-Mercedes team in F1. He would likely be driving a 2007 Audi with Alexandre Prémat, Markus Winkelhock, Katherine Legge, and Mike Rockenfeller.
Regarding the driving of the 2006 cars, the situation is a bit more unclear. It seems that Audi would only field two 2006 single-seaters for the 2008 season.
To this end, Christijan Albers and Andreas Wirth tested for Audi last week at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. They could, therefore, each find themselves at the wheel of a 2006-spec Audi A4.
