Renault completed its third day of testing in Jerez, Spain, with Fernando Alonso at the wheel of the R29.
The team benefited from excellent weather conditions today, allowing the Spaniard to cover a maximum number of kilometers and gather a significant amount of data.
The objectives of the day were to accomplish long runs, continue working on the onboard systems, and proceed with the KERS evaluation work.
Fernando will be in the cockpit of the Losange tomorrow for the last day of testing in Jerez.
Fernando Alonso stated: « The objective today was to accumulate kilometers, especially with the new KERS system. It was my first day on a completely dry track and I was able to learn a lot. We did a large number of laps, which is very encouraging. Now we are going to start working on setups to be more comfortable with the car. »
Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer, added: « As the car is brand new, the priority of these tests is to cover as many kilometers as possible to ensure we have reliable systems. The first two days of testing were difficult for us, but today the car ran very well. We will continue to do long runs tomorrow and learn as much as possible. »
