New: The weight of the single-seaters before the race

Starting from the 2009 season, the FIA is making the weight of the cars, including their fuel load, public following the Saturday qualifying session.

Fans will therefore have a hint about the strategies employed on Sunday for the Grand Prix.

Here is the weight of each car sorted in ascending order for the Australian Grand Prix, directly compared with the position of the single-seater on the starting grid.

Thus, the drivers between the 9th and 15th position are the ones who have taken on the most fuel. These are the drivers who stopped just short of Q3 and can choose their strategy.

On the contrary, the cars in the lead are much lighter even if the two Brawn GPs are not the ones with the least fuel. Yet, they are on the front row, which implies excellent competitiveness and reliability.
