Mario Theissen has decided to stay at the helm of BMW Motorsport, despite the German car manufacturer’s decision to exit Formula 1. The team leader admitted he was considering his future with BMW after announcing that his team would no longer compete in F1 next year. However, the German will remain alongside Peter Sauber with the new team that has acquired BMW.
« In Hinwil, it is now the end of an era but I will remain the director of BMW Motorsport, » affirmed Mario Theissen.
BMW announced last week that it had sold the team to Sauber, whose majority stake the automaker had purchased four years ago. The FIA has not yet revealed the future of the Hinwil team, specifically whether they will have a spot on the 2010 grid.
