The Nürburgring circuit will be managed by a new management company, in a move that will see CEO Walter Kafitz leave his position after 15 years of loyal service.

Amid the political fallout caused by the 300 million euro investment in the restructuring of the track layout, which was completed earlier this year, the state, which largely owns the Nürburgring GmbH company, expects the circuit to take responsibility. In light of this initiative, which sees the Lindner group taking charge, Kafitz will no longer be responsible. Lindner is a company that manages one of the main hotels at the German track.

The new owners plan to integrate the operation of leisure equipment on the track as well as the general operations of the circuit.

The Nurburgring shares the organization of the German Grand Prix with Hockenheim. In 2010, it will be the latter’s turn to host the event, so the Nurburgring will not hold an F1 race until 2011.
