The Silverstone circuit has sold an unprecedented number of tickets after announcing it would once again host the British Grand Prix in 2010. Organizers stated on Tuesday that just under 6,500 tickets were sold in 24 hours, which amounts to over 1.2 million pounds in revenue (€1.32 million).

« We were surprised by the interest in next year’s event with a record sales level. We are very pleased that Silverstone and F1 enjoy unwavering support from the fans, » said the managing director, Richard Phillips.

« With two English world champions in a British team (McLaren) and a team present on the circuit (Force India), this British Grand Prix is guaranteed in the long term. There is reason to be optimistic. We are committed to offering a fantastic experience to the fans, providing real value for the money spent. There will be plenty of off-track entertainment. With MotoGP and F1 at Silverstone next year, we are eager to tackle this year, which promises to be busy and exciting. »

Next year’s race in the premier category of motorsport will take place from July 9th to 11th.
