The organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix have planned to keep the same race elements for 2010, including the pit exit tunnel. Everyone remembers the general skepticism before the inaugural event two months ago. The Yas Marina circuit hosted the final of the 2009 season but had sparked much controversy about the tunnel, which passes under the track, and also about the event’s timing at dusk.

However, despite these few doubts, the race was a success. The track director, Richard Cregan, has already agreed with the FIA that everything will remain in place for this year: « Nothing will change in this regard, » he stated when asked about the pit exit and a semi-night event.

« We will make a few small modifications in light of some things we observed during the event, but nothing major. Like any new initiative, there is always a challenge to overcome. There will always be people who will disrupt the show. »

« The lighting system worked incredibly well, the drivers were very happy and, above all, it created an amazing show. »

The assessment of the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is positive. Cregan comments: « We certainly achieved our objectives in Abu Dhabi and more broadly in the United Arab Emirates. I think the most important thing is that we sold tickets to people who were happy with the event and want to come back. There have already been many people who have contacted us by email to book their tickets for this year. »

« We are very happy because the event went very well. Both the FIA and the FOM stated that the event was fantastic. »

« Next year, there will be no refueling. The races will be more exciting; you will be able to see cars with full tanks… » He concluded.
