Virgin’s race director, Nick Wirth, claims that his team should be ready to test alongside other teams in Jerez, Spain, between February 10th and 13th. This will be the second round of testing of the season.
Although the new car will therefore not be in action in Valencia for the first event early next month, Wirth plans to be fully operational only during the second testing session: « The plan is to stay in the UK initially. The design is expected to be completed by Friday, January 29, although I think it will probably be sooner. That has always been the plan. »
« To be honest, we also plan to miss the first tests in Jerez. But since we arrived between August and September, we thought from the beginning that our chances of testing were great. So we plan to unveil the car in the UK, maybe on the 3rd, but more likely on February 4th or 5th, then to send it and start running on February 10th in Jerez, » he added.
Wirth announced that the car was fully constructed on schedule: «We received the first monocoque fully assembled with all the pontoons. »
