Alex Wurz says he sees no interest in returning to Formula 1, even though he was linked to a spot at USF1 during the winter. The 35-year-old driver’s last race was in 2007. He is now an occasional driver for Peugeot, having participated in the last two 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2009, the Austrian even emerged victorious.
A year ago, he was heavily involved in the F1 Superfund project, which ultimately did not gain entry by the FIA. Since then, speculation has linked the driver to USF1. But Wurz states that he has left the top category of motorsports behind and has no desire to make a comeback.
Asked on Saturday about a possible return to F1 at ‘Autosport International’, he admits: « No, I have changed my mindset regarding show business and actual activity. »
« You just have to look at Peugeot or Bentley here. Since my childhood, I have always loved sports cars. After 13 years in F1, I am very happy to be with Peugeot, to have gone to Sebring. I hope to do some other races as well as Le Mans. »
