Felipe Massa is also in the midst of testing. Today, he is driving a 2008 Ferrari on the Circuit de Catalunya, which usually hosts the Spanish Grand Prix. This session is the third of its kind since the Brazilian’s accident at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix. Since then, he has fully recovered from his head injuries. He has already driven a 2007 single-seater at Fiorano and Mugello.
Ferrari is already in action in Barcelona this week for unofficial testing. It is the Clienti department that organizes these tests, which have already seen MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi having two days of testing this week behind the wheel of an F2008. Massa therefore continued today in a car equipped with GP2 tires to comply with the ban on active testing in Formula 1.
« As the car and track were available, I thought it would be useful to go on the circuit and do laps to gain some confidence and get my feel back, » said Massa. « After the few days spent in Fiorano and Mugello, it will be a great opportunity to get back in a cockpit on an interesting and challenging track. »
