Renault F1 Team today officially presented its new R30, the 2010 car of the team, to the international press.

The official team driver, Robert Kubica (Polish), was present to unveil the new Renault F1 Team car, which features a yellow and black livery this year – the iconic colors of Renault in the 1980s. The team also introduced Vitaly Petrov (Russian), who will drive for the team alongside Robert. The young 25-year-old driver is the first Russian Formula One driver. He joins the Renault F1 Team with considerable experience in the GP2 Series, having finished the 2009 season as runner-up.

The drivers also posed alongside the Team Principal of the team, Eric Boullier. For this first official photo of the season, the team’s third driver, Ho-Pin Tung (Chinese), as well as the reserve driver, Jérôme d’Ambrosio (Belgian), the first recruits of the RF1 Driver Programme, joined them. Jan Charouz (Czech), also from the 2010 RF1 Driver Programme cohort and a reserve driver, was unable to be present.

With stable technical regulations and evolving sporting regulations, the R30 features advancements as well as numerous innovations. The 2010 single-seater is slimmer and more attractive than its predecessor, the R29. Particular attention has been given to the rear of the car to maximize the concept of the double-decker diffuser that appeared last year. The chassis architecture has also been revised – the ban on refueling this year required the adoption of a much larger tank.

Eric Boullier, Team Principal of the Renault F1 Team, congratulated the team members for their work during the presentation: « We have worked tirelessly throughout the winter to be ready for this new season. The R30 should be a competitive, solid, and reliable car. It will also benefit from an aggressive development program. We are ready for the first tests of 2010 and we look forward to measuring the car’s performance. »

Robert and Vitaly were happy to discover their new single-seater and expressed their hopes for the upcoming season. « The team has been focusing on the development of the single-seater for quite some time now, and it’s clear that we are moving in the right direction, » explains Robert Kubica. « We will need to maximize winter testing and continue to improve the car. It must be consistent in its behavior, regardless of the conditions, » he concludes.

« The new single-seater is very beautiful and its colors will remind us of Renault’s pedigree in motorsport. I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel for the first time and starting to work with the team », adds Vitaly Petrov.

The Renault F1 Team will be in Valencia until Wednesday for the first winter tests.
