Day 2 – Thursday, February 11 /f1/news/9526-renault-painfully-completes-its-first-day-of-testing.html:
The team benefited from good track conditions for this second day of testing in Jerez. The objective was to work on the setup of the car and to continue the tire evaluation work.
**Robert Kubica**, racing driver, stated: « The track was slightly damp at the start of the day. So we waited for the track conditions to improve in order to really start our technical program this morning. We made good progress today. We worked on the setup to understand and analyze the car’s reactions to different solutions. The objectives of this first day have been achieved and the outcome is encouraging. »
Alan Permane, Chief Engineer added: « The day was productive and we completed a little over 100 laps. We worked a lot on the setup of the car today. We made quite a few changes for Robert since the first tests in Valencia, and he is now much more comfortable in the R30. We also improved the balance and grip of the car throughout the day. I hope we can continue this work tomorrow and that the rain won’t prevent us from progressing in our program. »
Day 3 – Friday, February 12 /f1/news/9526-renault-ends-its-first-day-of-testing-agonizingly.html:
The team once again experienced a particularly rainy day. It therefore adapted its technical program to the track conditions. Vitaly Petrov, behind the wheel of the R30 for this third day of testing, completed 68 laps on a mostly wet track.
Vitaly Petrov, race driver declared: « We were able to do a few kilometers on a dry track this morning and the balance of the car was quite satisfactory. The rain allowed me to deepen my knowledge: the way the car responds in such conditions and understand the characteristics of the tires. It went well. We also did a good number of simulations and I was able to rehearse different procedures. »
Alan Permane added: « It rained again today, but we completed a few runs on a dry track early in the morning and Vitaly was satisfied with the car. It then rained all day, and we focused on evaluation work for new parts. This rainy day also allowed Vitaly to learn how to handle Bridgestone tires. He was comfortable in these conditions. »
Day 4 – Saturday, February 13 /f1/news/9526-renault-struggles-through-their-first-day-of-testing.html:
A wet track in the morning limited track time this morning. Conditions improved in the afternoon, and Robert Kubica was able to complete long runs in the second part of the day.
Robert Kubica stated: « Once again, we were unlucky with the weather this morning, but conditions improved in the afternoon, and we were able to work well, particularly on improving the performance of the car. We are making progress every day, and the results obtained this week confirm that we are heading in the right direction. »
Alan Permane added: « With the rain this morning, the day started a bit slowly. It limited the track time. We evaluated the car with wet tires and then waited for the track conditions to improve. We went back out on slick tires as soon as the track was dry and were able to work on the car’s setup. The day was very productive. We improved the performance of the car and Robert was very pleased with the progress made. »
