Lopez would like Valles with him at USF1

Jose Maria Lopez declares he would be happy for Adrian Valles to be his teammate at USF1. The Spaniard has been linked to the race seat since the beginning of the month. Argentine Lopez is currently the only driver confirmed with the American team. They are engaged in a genuine race against time to get to Bahrain next month, the location of the season’s first race.

Valles won the Superleague championship last year with Liverpool. For Lopez, he would therefore be a strong teammate: « I would really like to have Adrian as a teammate for many reasons, » the Argentine told the Spanish daily Marca. « First, he is young, talented, and has a lot of experience. Then, because I have known him since we were together in the Renault development program. »

He added: « It’s difficult to talk about other drivers. They should be judged on past performance or the teams they have been with. Adrian has been prodigious in all the categories he has participated in, proving that he is a talented driver. »

Although USF1 seems ready to miss all preseason testing, Lopez remains confident and believes that joining a new team was a good decision: « Of course it’s worth it. I fought hard to get here, and I’ve been through a lot. It’s a chance to return to the pinnacle of motorsport. I will give 100% to stay in Formula 1. »
