Virgin Racing undertook a reshuffle within its management a few weeks ago, with John Booth replacing Alex Tai as team principal with immediate effect. Booth had previously led the Manor Grand Prix project before the team was named Virgin Racing. He was then the sporting director at Virgin.

Speaking on the reasons for his decision, Tai explained: « Finding new opportunities and new challenges is what really excites me. This is what I am focusing on. I am proud to see where the team is right now. I am convinced that Virgin Racing is in good hands, with a balance of confidence and experience. »

Virgin Racing president, Etienne de Villiers stated: « John’s reputation and experience leave no doubt about his ability to become the team principal. He will be joined by Graeme Lowdon as CEO, who previously held the position of race director. He was one of the founders of Manor Grand Prix. »

« Graeme has proven himself with Manor Grand Prix and has an excellent reputation in the sport. Their combined experience and the expertise that comes with it make these candidates ideal people to lead the Virgin Racing team. We are heading towards an exciting first season. »

He added: « These appointments reflect our long-term commitment to the sport. We hope to face many challenges by creating a team with the skills and experience to ensure its long-term success. We knew this day would come, but we are sad to see Alex leave his executive duties. He will continue to play a role as project director for Virgin and will maintain a close relationship with the team. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Alex for his support, energy, and dedication from the team’s earliest days. »
