Good weather conditions allowed the team to complete its technical program for this first day of testing in Barcelona. Vitaly Petrov was behind the wheel of the R30 yesterday. The team conducted a series of pit stop simulations this morning; they focused on car setup work this afternoon.
Vitaly Petrov, racing driver, stated: « The track conditions were pretty good today and I was happy not to have to drive in the rain! The day was satisfying. We did a good number of pit stop simulations and also accomplished good work on the R30 setup, it went well. »
Alan Permane, Chief Engineer, added: « We spent a good part of the morning on pit stop simulations with Vitaly; everything went well. It was also the team’s first on-track practice without refueling. We didn’t encounter any procedural issues. Unfortunately, we had a hydraulic problem early in the afternoon that forced us to change part of the hydraulic system. This limited our track time in the second part of the day. Nevertheless, we were able to do good setup work, and Vitaly was able to get familiar with this circuit. »
