Summary: Force India scores points in the first GP!

Perfectly fulfilled contract for the Force India team, which scores points in the very first race of the season. In this case, two points with Vitantonio Liuzzi’s 9th place. And it wasn’t necessarily him that was expected to score points, but rather his teammate Adrian Sutil.

Indeed, the German was the favorite at the start but fell victim to minor collisions at the beginning of the Grand Prix in the first lap. The result was clear with the loss of several positions, some of which could not be regained. In the end, he finished in 12th place, the best he could achieve!

Adrian Sutil – 12th:

« At least we finished the race! After the incident in the first corner, it was the best we could do. We had a good race in the end, learned a lot about the tires and how the car behaves at the end of a race. The incident almost destroyed my hope of scoring points. I don’t really know what happened in that corner. I was driving and then there was a big cloud of smoke that blinded me. I hit someone and spun off. It’s frustrating, but we’ll keep working for the next race. »

Tonio Liuzzi – 9th:

« I am really satisfied. We achieved our goal of scoring points, which is a great result for me and for the team. It was a difficult race with the heavy fuel load and the tires, plus the heat. Overall, I think we can be quite satisfied with how we are progressing. Being in the points is magical. All the top teams finished ahead of us and there were no breakdowns or reliability issues. It was the maximum we could do. I am now looking forward to Australia, where we will have some updates. This could put us in an even better position for the next race. Overall, it’s an excellent result for the team. »

That has always been our goal and we knew we were on pace to achieve it, but nonetheless accomplishing it gives an extraordinary feeling. Adrian was unlucky and I know he will be disappointed not to have had the opportunity to capitalize on his starting position, but the season is long.
