ExxonMobil continues with McLaren

McLaren multiplies partnership extensions at the start of this year. After Vodafone, Santander, and AkzoNobel, it announces that its association with ExxonMobil, the company with the highest market capitalization in the world, has been extended for five additional seasons.

Among our numerous sponsorship contracts, the one between ExxonMobil and McLaren is long-term since 2011 will mark the 17th consecutive season of partnership between the two companies. During this period, they will have won four world championship titles (including both drivers and constructors).

Ron Dennis, who chairs McLaren Group, stated: “The success and longevity of our relationships send a clear message that working with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes offers an impressive return on investment, not only in terms of the marketing value of our victories on the track, viewed by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, but also in terms of measurable results from B2B and B2C campaigns that we organize in close collaboration with our partners.”

Until now, the content of this partnership had a very industrial and technological focus. The company from Irving, Texas, provides Mobil 1 lubricants and brings its trackside expertise for the development of next-generation engine and gearbox lubricants. Furthermore, its products are also used for wind tunnel testing, cutting components with dedicated fluids, as well as in the Actros transport vehicles supplied by the team’s engine manufacturer, Mercedes.

But like Santander or Vodafone, ExxonMobil intends to capitalize on the very positive image of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button with the British and global public: they will now appear in marketing operations or advertisements aimed at the general public to promote the commercialization of its products.
