Sean Gelael joins Carlin in GP2 for the end of the season
As Ryo Haryanto has a very good start to the season in GP2, another Indonesian will join the grid of the discipline as Sean Gelael will take the second Carlin seat for four of the five end-of-season races.

Indonesia represents an increasingly attractive market as its economy grows. Therefore, more and more citizens from this archipelago are venturing into careers in motorsports, often supported by significant funding.
Thus, Sean Gelael is already in his third season in Europe: after two seasons in European F3, he has moved up this year to Formula Renault 3.5. Since last year, he has been in the fold of Carlin, which will again be the case for his stint in GP2 Series.
It will therefore already be the third driver to occupy this second seat since Johnny Cecotto replaced Marco Sorensen during the British weekend.
This participation in four events this year could be decisive for his future, which is not guaranteed beyond the current season: “The opportunity arose with Carlin and it was able to happen. I want to try to learn as much as possible. It will be a good experience with the Pirelli tires. I don’t know yet what I will do next season. So, this year is a building year. It made sense to be able to do these GP2 races with Carlin, with whom the chemistry is going very well.”
He will only miss the Monza event as he will be occupied with his commitments related to the World Series by Renault, which leads Carlin to look for a new driver for this stage.
