Gustav Malja and Oliver Rowland present at Spa
Two drivers will make a guest appearance in GP2: Oliver Rowland will return to MP Motorsport, while Gustav Malja replaces René Binder, who is ill, at Trident.

Oliver Rowland made his GP2 debut at Silverstone. The current leader of the rival Formula Renault 3.5 championship had a great home weekend as he scored points in both races. While he didn’t make the trip to Hungary, he is back for another round in Belgium, a circuit where he has had success in the past: « It’s a circuit I really like because I’ve won there in the past in Formula Renault 2.0 as well as Formula 3.5 earlier this year. I’m really looking forward to being there. Finishing on the podium is the goal. If I can achieve that, it would be a great way to show my appreciation to RSF and MP Motorsport for allowing me to be there. »
As for Gustav Malja, he will follow in Oliver Rowland’s footsteps and set aside Formula Renault 3.5 for this weekend. The Swede will discover the F1 feeder series due to the prolonged infection suffered by René Binder. Binder explained that his Budapest weekend was particularly difficult for this reason: “I suffered from a streptococcal infection before Budapest and did everything I could to participate in the race weekend. Even though I managed to survive the extreme heat, it might not have been the right decision as the infection and fever returned a few days later. Even though I’m feeling better, my doctors clearly recommended that I take no risks and miss the race weekend in Belgium.”
