Oliver Rowland ends his season in GP2
Winner of the last Formula Renault 3.5 edition, Oliver Rowland returns to GP2 after having experienced the discipline at Silverstone and Spa Francorchamps with the MP Motorsport team. This time, the English driver finishes his season with Status Grand Prix where it is unknown who loses their spot.

The English driver will once again be able to explore the world of GP2 for the last two meetings in Bahrain and then Abu Dhabi at the end of the month. The Sheffield native experienced this discipline during the British event where he finished 7th in the sprint race and 10th in the main race. In Belgium, the driver, who was then with MP Motorsport, had to retire on the 18th lap of the main race and, during the sprint race, he retired on the 15th lap.
Supported by Racing Steps Foundation, he is very eager to return to GP2 as he explains on the official Status Grand Prix website: « Racing Steps Foundation felt that driving for Status offers me a good opportunity to gain experience on tracks I have never raced on. I don’t need to say that I am delighted to be back in this championship. The car suits my driving style, so if all goes well, I hope to shine ».
He explains his end-of-season objective for the Silverstone-based team: “For these last two races, my goal is to be able to step onto the podium. Of course, if I can add another victory for the team (Status won two races in Monaco and Sochi thanks to Richie Stanaway), I would of course be happy.”
The team’s director, Teddy Yip Jr, also expressed satisfaction at having Oliver Rowland for the last two meetings of the season: « We are delighted to welcome Oliver Rowland to our team, it is clear that he has a promising future in our sport. Oliver is a world-class driver with an F1 career in sight. It will not be an easy task to fight against so many experienced GP2 drivers, but we fully trust in his driving skills and his involvement in this program».
He recalls the objective of his team and congratulates himself on this first GP2 season: « Allowing talented drivers to shine is very important to me. Additionally, we achieved two victories in our first season in this championship with Richie Stanaway. We can therefore be proud of what we have accomplished so far ».
