Last season, Renault reinstated its Renault Sport Academy to benefit from a pool of young drivers. Three of them will be in GP2 next season: Louis Delétraz has already been confirmed at Racing Engineering, while Oliver Rowland and Nicholas Latifi have just been confirmed at Dams.

A long relationship unites the Le Mans team with Renault since drivers like Romain Grosjean have benefited from this association in the past. Oliver Rowland hopes that the move from MP Motorsport to Dams will allow him to take a step forward as he only climbed onto three podiums in his first season in the category: « The overall goal is to dominate the championship. This is my personal goal and it is shared by the team. Dams has won titles in previous years with Valsecchi, Grosjean, and Palmer. So I am joining a team with a lot of history and I need to ensure I am at my best. »

He thus joins Dams and one of his colleagues from the Renault Sport Academy, Nicholas Latifi. While the Canadian had an ideal start to the season with a second place in the very first race, he then dropped off and finished only 16th in the overall standings.

He will therefore rely on his existing relationship with the team to progress next season: « Our goal is to always be ahead and to have better results in the championship than last year. I am very happy to be part of the team for a second consecutive year because I have built a working relationship with everyone. »
