As often in Monaco, everything was decided at the start. On the grid, Rapax monopolized the front row, with Johnny Cecotto benefiting from the privileged position thanks to his eighth place in the main race. But the Venezuelan was unable to convert the opportunity as his teammate managed to pass him on the outside of Sainte-Dévote.

If the Dutchman was able to quickly distance himself from the competition, he got scared when he touched the barriers at Tabac corner. However, this contact had no consequences for the McLaren protege, who took his car to the checkered flag unscathed.

Behind, the order remained unchanged for Gustav Malja and Luca Ghiotto. However, Artem Markelov once again showed that he was comfortable on the streets of Monaco, after his victory last year, by overtaking Alex Albon at Rascasse on the 20th lap. The latter therefore finishes just ahead of his teammate Nobuharu Matsushita and Jordan King.

Sentenced to an impossible mission following his cruel abandonment yesterday, Charles Leclerc still tried to climb back up, surprising his rivals at the Rascasse in the early laps of the race. However, he made contact with Norman Nato, forcing the Frenchman to retire.

The Monegasque will be able to console himself with the fact that Oliver Rowland was not able to score any points. The local driver therefore remains the championship leader, with only three points ahead of his closest rival.
