Charouz Racing System is a Czech team based in Prague which comes from the Formula V8 3.5 championship and used to race under the name of Lotus. The team founded by Antonin Charouz actually won the championship last year thanks to Pietro Fittipaldi.

Louis Delétraz, 20, is a Swiss driver who has on his record the title of FR2.0 NEC champion in 2015 and who finished as the runner-up in Formula V8 3.5 in 2016. Last year, he joined the Formula 2 championship with Racing Engineering and then Rapax towards the end of the season. His first campaign in the discipline was quite challenging with only four entries in the top 10 and a fourth place as his best result. The Swiss driver receives support from Romain Grosjean as his sports mentor. The valuable experience gained in /f1/actualite/22412-sergio-sette-camara-et-lando-norris-chez-carlin-en-2018.html should allow him to hope for much better results.

Antonio Fuoco, 21, is an Italian driver who won the FR2.0 Alps championship in 2014 and finished third in the GP3 in 2016 with Prema alongside Charles Leclerc, with whom he battled for much of the season. He made his debut in Formula 2 last year again with Prema and teammate Charles Leclerc. Comparisons to the Monegasque were quite challenging for the Italian, as he only achieved four podiums and one victory. He will certainly want to make up for it and prove his true worth. As a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he is also a development driver for Scuderia Ferrari in Formula 1.

Charouz therefore chooses to hire two drivers who will want to prove a lot after a more than mixed rookie season. But, the cards could be reshuffled next year with the arrival of a whole new generation of single-seaters. The Czech team will display the sponsor logo of Delétraz, ADS Securities, on the sides of its cars. And on the top part, both cars will sport the colors of the Ferrari Driver Academy, which supports Fuoco’s career. The logo of the young drivers’ academy will appear on both cars even though Louis Delétraz is not a member.

Charouz is therefore the third Formula 2 team to announce its drivers for the 2018 season after Prema and Carlin.
