After a relatively disappointing season with ART Grand Prix, the French F2 team decided to part ways with Jack Aitken. This decision was heavily influenced by the points gap between George Russell, also a driver at ART Grand Prix, and Aitken. While the future Williams driver clinched the Formula 2 title, his teammate only secured 2 podiums, including 1 victory, resulting in an 11th place in the standings.

The protégé of the Renault Sport Academy is determined to make up for it in 2019, and even if he leaves one of the top F2 teams to join a second-tier one, Aitken is likely to have a much better campaign than in 2019. Campos Racing’s choice to take on a driver on the rise clearly indicates their desire to do better in 2019 and improve on their 2018 performance where the Spanish team finished 7th in the standings with 5 podiums.

Adriàn Campos, the president of Campos Racing, sees this new collaboration in a very positive light: «We are delighted that Jack is joining our team. He is an extremely talented driver, and with all the elements coming together, we will fight for top honors. Thanks to our work and Jack’s natural talent, we will aim for the most ambitious goals. »
