ART Grand Prix surely had no doubts when it came to signing Théo Pourchaire for a third season (F3 and F2). Indeed, the native of Grasse just had an outstanding and noticed 2021 season.

Runner-up in Formula 3 in 2020 (behind Oscar Piastri), the French driver made his debut this year in the stepping stone to Formula 1, alongside many competitors vying for the F2 title. While already holding the record for the youngest driver to win a race in Formula 3, the Frenchman repeated the feat, this time in the higher category. Indeed, during his fantastic race weekend in Monaco, Théo Pourchaire, at only 18 years old, became the youngest pole-sitter and winner in Formula 2.

With two victories (Monaco, Monza) and a fifth place in the overall standings (second best rookie), despite a fracture of the ulna, Théo Pourchaire has become one of the closely watched rising stars in the F2 and Formula 1 paddocks. A driver from the Sauber Driver Academy, he even had the opportunity to practice driving a 2019 F1 car during private tests at the Hungaroring circuit with the Alfa Romeo team.

“I am proud to continue in F2 with ART Grand Prix in 2022,” said Pourchaire. “It is an honor for me to work with such a great team. This will be our third year together and it has become like a family to me. Continuing with them in the F1 feeder series is very exciting. I want to thank the Sauber Academy for once again supporting me. It will be a busy year and I want to have fun and gain experience for my future. We are more determined than ever and we will aim for the F2 championship.”

Observed by Frédéric Vasseur, team principal of Alfa Romeo and co-founder of ART Grand Prix, Théo Pourchaire is aiming for nothing less than the championship title next season, hoping to thus access the pinnacle category of motorsport.

For Sébastien Philippe, Team Manager of ART Grand Prix, continuing our adventure together makes sense! Théo has shown the extent of his talents, both individually and in sports. His motivation and determination are in line with those of ART Grand Prix, and the winter preparation is going well. When we know that we have all the advantages on our side, there is only one thing to aim for, the title!
