Monaco Grand Prix – Provisional pole position for Lawson?
Qualifications in two groups, Liam Lawson set the best time in both groups but his time was set under yellow flags... investigation to follow?

Special qualification format in Monaco for Formula 2. Odd numbers went out first for 16 minutes. Even numbers then took to the track for 16 minutes as well. The grid will be determined as follows:
If the best time is achieved by a driver from group A, all the drivers from that group will start on odd numbers of the grid according to their ranking in the session (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.). For the even numbers on the grid, it will be based on the ranking of the second group (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.).
First session:
The odd numbers started off the qualifying round. In this session, Felipe Drugovich set the fastest time before hitting the wall in the final turn and bringing his car to a halt on the starting straight.
Liam Lawson sets the fastest time but under double yellow flags, just like Ayumu Iwasa who sets the second fastest time ahead of Felipe Drugovich.
Second session:
The best time was achieved by Théo Pourchaire in 1.21.535. Vips recorded the second fastest time in this group.
Théo Pourchaire will therefore be on the first row!
Liam Lawson secures the pole position for now with Théo Pourchaire in second.
Ayumu Iwasa, in third place, also did a timed lap under yellow flags…
If Lawson and Iwasa’s times are cancelled, the pole position could go to Felipe Drugovich…
To be continued…
