Frederik Vesti, all or nothing
Leader of the championship with an 11-point lead over Théo Pourchaire, Frederik Vesti is giving it his all to win the title and maximize his chances of entering Formula 1. The Danish driver reflects on this very positive Formula 2 season so far.

For all Formula 2 drivers, the dream is the same: to have the chance to enter Formula 1. As he approached this season, Frederik Vesti did not want to hesitate for long. He explains how he approached this 2023 Formula 2 season to lead the championship.
« “I think that this year, I left with the mindset of having no regrets,” he declared. “For the Danish driver, nothing was taken for granted, especially with Théo Pourchaire launching his third season to finally win the title.”
« As if it were my year to be able to enter Formula 1. I think that the way I see things, if I know within myself that I am giving it my all and that I have nothing left in the tank, then there is no reason to feel the pressure or to feel that it is a difficult situation. I’ve been dreaming of this exact situation since I was eight years old. I am much more grateful to be here with Prema, fighting for the Formula 2 championship, than I feel the pressure of not succeeding in F1 », he explained regarding his current situation and future.
Indeed, if he can achieve such a great season so far, it is certainly thanks to his talent, but also thanks to his team. Prema is a renowned team for young drivers and this season, they are doing everything in their power to win the Formula 2 championship, both in the constructor’s and driver’s standings with Vesti.
« In every possible way, they are there to support me, but if I don’t utilize everyone around me, I don’t get the most out of myself. I have come to understand that using everyone to the fullest extent gives me my maximum output, explained Fred Vesti about the role his team plays in his success.
A dedicated pilot
Frederik Vesti explains that he has never been as involved in what he does as he is now. With Prema, he makes himself available day and night to work and improve. « So, I would say that this year is a continuous version of myself, but obviously improved and with a great emphasis on consistency », he said.
It was last year that Fred Vesti had this breakthrough, especially with Mercedes as the Danish driver is part of the German brand’s academy. « Obviously, it started last year when I moved to the United Kingdom. I was very busy, spending nearly 45 days in the simulator. This year has been just as busy with Mercedes. I’m always there in the UK when I’m not in Formula 2, mostly doing simulator work. Also, in the gym », explained Vesti.
« I have never been so involved in the team. Of course, I know that the more I know, the more opportunities I have. This also means that my main priority is Formula 2 », he concluded. Constantly improving, with an impenetrable strength, Fred Vesti is a strong favorite to win the Formula 2 title. Even though Théo Pourchaire, Ayumu Iwasa, and the drivers behind them haven’t said their last word, far from it, the Danish driver seems to be in great shape and ready to fight until the end.
