Charlie Wurz, son of Alexander, has committed to Formula 3 with Jenzer
Charlie Wurz has joined Jenzer Motorsport for the 2024 Formula 3 season. The son of Alexander, former F1 driver and current president of the GPDA, will compete in his first F3 season.
Alexander Wurz, president of the GPDA, the association of Formula 1 Grand Prix drivers, will see his son, Charlie, compete in Formula 3 this season with Jenzer Motorsport.
Charlie Wurz arrives in Formula 3 after a partial participation in FRECA, the Alpine Regional Formula Championship, as well as in Euroformula Open. The Austrian achieved a victory in Monza in the latter championship, adding five podiums to finish in sixth place in the standings.
Commenting on his promotion to Formula 3 with Jenzer, Charlie Wurz declared that he was excited to start his F3 season with the team. « I am thrilled to be racing with Jenzer Motorsport for the 2024 FIA F3 season. I feel confident and comfortable having such a motivated team behind me. I can’t wait to start in Bahrain in a few weeks. »
The team manager, Andreas Jenzer, added that the Austrian’s experience with the team during the post-season tests was a great asset to start the new campaign. « Part of Charlie’s blood seems to be made up of pure fuel and passion! The official FIA F3 test days we did together at the end of 2023 […] were very positive. »
Charlie Wurz joins, alongside American Max Esterson and Peruvian Matias Zagazeta, the ranks of Jenzer Motorsport. The Swiss team finished the 2023 season in sixth place in the team championship, with a total of five podium finishes including one victory.
