Juan Manuel Correa, driver for DAMS Lucas Oil, has been penalized with a three-place grid penalty after impeding Taylor Barnard from PHM AIX Racing during the Formula 2 qualifying session in Jeddah. The stewards determined that he impeded Barnard at Turn 1. This penalty will be applied at the next race Correa takes part in.
Note that Amaury Cordeel, driver for the Hitech Pulse-Eight team, has also been sanctioned during the last round. He will have to serve a five-place grid penalty for causing a collision during the feature race in Sakhir.
The two drivers will serve their penalty during the sprint race this Friday night. They will be last in the sprint race.
On his part, Prema driver Oliver Bearman received some rather good news from his point of view. He will be promoted by Scuderia Ferrari in F1 for the rest of the weekend to replace Carlos Sainz Jr., who is suffering from appendicitis. As the qualifying session has already taken place, the car will be missing from the grid, but Ollie Bearman still retains the benefit of his pole position.
