A Frenchman promoted to F2 at Trident, his name is Sami Meguetounif
The 20-year-old Frenchman, born in Marseille, climbed all the ranks of junior formulas to reach Formula 2. He will be confirmed as a full-time driver next year with his Trident team, with which he was racing in F3 this season.
France will have a driver in Formula 2, while Isack Hadjar will leave the junior category to find an opportunity either in F1 or elsewhere. Indeed, Sami Meguetounif was confirmed by Trident this Monday as an F2 driver. He will replace Mansell since Esterson has been confirmed at Trident for 2025.

A meteoric rise
« I am very happy and excited to make my debut in Formula 2 with Trident, said the Frenchman. « When I made my debut in Formula 3 with the Italian team twelve months ago, I did not think I would progress so quickly.
Indeed, Meguetounif will have only completed one short season in F3, in which he won, admittedly, two races, but finished only in eighth place in the standings. The performances achieved this year have convinced the team to continue with Sami Meguetounif, while recent promotions of young drivers in Formula 1 have shown that young talents have the abilities to compete with current F1 drivers.
Kimi Antonelli, who skipped directly from F3 to arrive in F2 for a season and be promoted to Lewis Hamilton’s place at Mercedes, is one of the proofs. Sami Meguetounif will therefore have to convince in 2025 in order to attract an F1 team as early as 2026, while Cadillac will make its entry onto the grid as the 11th team.
