Lauda: Formula E, “it’s not motorsport”
While the beginnings of the Formula E championship were rather well received, this is not the case in the F1 paddock. The latest critique comes from Niki Lauda, one of the officials of the Mercedes AMG F1 team.

The Formula E championship began two weeks ago in Beijing, and while it was rather well-received by some, on the Formula 1 side, some do not like this new discipline.
After recent criticism from Sebastian Vettel, who stated he is not a fan of Formula E, which he had already mentioned when the championship was announced a little over a year ago, it’s now another world champion’s turn to harshly criticize the discipline, Niki Lauda.
The Austrian didn’t mince his words, quoted by Auto Motor und Sport, to say what he thought of the FIA’s 100% electric championship: « For me, it’s the worst thing I’ve seen in a long time. The cars look like toys, they crawl on the track one after another – for me, this is not motorsport. »
