Formula E: Chandhok and Servia Appointed Driver Representatives
Karun Chandhok and Oriol Servia have been designated as the drivers' representatives for the Formula E championship for its first season.

At the end of the first ePrix in history held in Beijing, the drivers were consulted by the championship organizers to get their feedback following this inaugural race. To centralize requests and allow for better discussion in the future, two drivers were appointed as representatives of their colleagues.
This concerns Karun Chandhok (Mahindra), former F1 driver, and Oriol Servia (Dragon Racing). The two men will be consulted on topics such as safety and the layout of upcoming circuits.
« Immediately after the Beijing ePrix, Alejandro Agag started an email chain among all the drivers to ask for their feedback on this first event and ideas to move forward. This is the first championship I’ve participated in where drivers are genuinely consulted, which is fantastic. We realized that instead of having 20 emails exchanged, it made sense to elect two drivers who can represent our view to the FIA and the Formula E organizers. I’m looking forward to working with Oriol and with the FIA and Formula E teams to find ways to improve the circuits for competition, safety, and explore ways to evolve the rules to enhance the championship, » explained Chandhok, excited about the opportunity ahead.
His Spanish colleague, Oriol Servia, also expressed his delight at being chosen to represent his peers: « It is a great privilege to have been selected for this role and to work with Karun, Formula E, and the FIA to ensure we deliver a safe yet exciting competition, which is crucial to ensuring that the FIA Formula E championship becomes a true success. »
The President of the FIA, Jean Todt, also expressed satisfaction with the appointment of two representatives among the drivers as it is essential for him to be able to rely on feedback from drivers in this brand new championship and ensure it heads in the right direction for the sport, the drivers, the teams, and the spectators: « It is very important for the FIA to have feedback from the drivers, especially in a championship as new and innovative as Formula E, which takes place on urban circuits that represent a challenge. Having been elected representatives of the Formula E drivers, Oriol Servia and Karun Chandhok will be involved in all matters related to driver safety and particularly the layout of each circuit in the championship. To this end, they will conduct a track inspection with FIA officials at each round. We are pleased to have them and the important assistance they will bring to the FIA Formula E Championship, in collaboration with the other drivers. »
