The second ePrix of the first Formula E season will take place this Saturday, November 22, in Putrajaya, a ‘new’ city in Malaysia, designed and developed to reduce congestion in Kuala Lumpur and aimed to be green and ecological, with numerous green spaces in particular.

The circuit

The circuit – 2.5 km long, with 12 turns and designed by Simon Gibbons – winds through the streets of Putrajaya around the Perdana Putra, the Prime Minister’s office. It runs clockwise and features a mix of fast and slow corners, including a hairpin. Shorter than the Beijing circuit, it is expected to be faster thanks to two long straights. Drivers will need to quickly become familiar with the track during the 75 minutes of practice scheduled before qualifying and the race.

Sam Bird’s Opinion (Virgin Racing)

« The circuit is a bit shorter than Beijing. I think it will be higher in terms of energy output for the distance compared to what we saw in Beijing. It’s a bit faster, and there are longer straights. It’s always a challenge to find the right strategy in Formula E. As for overtaking zones, I would say turn 3, maybe 4, 7 and 12, and maybe 10 on the inside, these should be the main overtaking zones. I don’t see anyone being able to overtake in turn 1 – it’s not really a braking area. »

The TV schedule

In France, the Canal+ group has acquired the rights for the first three seasons of Formula E. It is the CanalSat Channel Sport+ that will broadcast all the ePrix live. Laurent Dupin, who is present at Formula 1 Grand Prix for Canal+, and Renaud Derlot, who already comments on GP2, will provide the race commentary this season.
