The ten teams registered for the first Formula E championship have decided to join forces by creating the Formula E Teams’ Association (FETA). The goal is to be able to speak with one unified voice for all teams during discussions with the championship promoters and the FIA.

The first President of FETA will be Alex Tai, one of the officials from the Virgin Racing team. He will be supported by Jean-Paul Driot (e.dams-Renault) and Thomas Biermaier (Audi Sport ABT), who will serve as Vice-Presidents within the association.

« I am delighted that we have implemented [FETA] as it creates an essential forum for discussions with stakeholders. It is in everyone’s interest for Formula E to be successful, and the teams want to play a role in ensuring that, » said Alex Tai, quoted by Autosport.

Oliver Weingarten has been appointed interim general secretary of FETA, a role he knows well since he was the general secretary of FOTA – the association of F1 teams – until its dissolution in February of this year.

The announcement was welcomed by the championship managers themselves, as stated by Alberto Longo – one of the responsible figures at Formula E Holdings, quoted by Autosport: « The creation of the Formula E Teams’ Association is a positive development for Formula E. We have always worked closely with the 10 teams, who share our objectives of making the championship attractive and helping it grow, while maintaining its features of developing technological solutions. The presence of the association will help teams cooperate with all stakeholders on cost control; a crucial element for the sustainability of this sport. »
