Official: The Sanya E-Prix canceled for health reasons
The Chinese Formula E round has been canceled due to the Coronavirus outbreak that has affected China for over a month.

This news, dreaded for the past few days, is now official. The Formula E E-Prix that was scheduled to take place on March 21, 2020, in Sanya, China, will not occur.
In consultation with the E-Prix organizers, the FIA, the Federation of Automotive Sports and Motorcycles of the People’s Republic of China, and local authorities, the organizers of the ABB Formula E have decided to cancel the Chinese round of the Formula E World Championship.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, which has currently resulted in over 300 deaths in China, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
Following this announcement, Formula E did not want to take any risks regarding all team and organizer staff, drivers, as well as the public. It therefore took the necessary measures by canceling the race.
Formula E is currently working with local authorities to monitor the situation and try to find a later date to hold the E-Prix under good conditions.
For the record, Formula 1 is scheduled to go to Shanghai in April for the Chinese Grand Prix. With this Coronavirus epidemic and the announcement of the cancellation of the Formula E E-Prix, the cancellation of the Chinese Grand Prix of Formula 1 cannot be ruled out.
