Formula E: The 2021 season calendar takes shape
Formula E will return in 2021! Motors Inside offers you an overview of the 7th season with all the tracks that are expected to be on the calendar.

The first 4 rounds of the 100% electric discipline have been unveiled. They will take the form of 2 double rounds on 2 different circuits. A pioneer in this field, Formula E will therefore continue with double ePrix.
Indeed, the first doubleheader will take place in Santiago, the Chilean capital, on January 16th and 17th. Due to health regulations, these first two races of the 7th Formula E season will be held behind closed doors.
Rounds 3 and 4 of the discipline will be held in Saudi Arabia in Diriyah on February 26 and 27. The Saudi track, which is on the calendar for the 3rd consecutive year, aims to welcome spectators for its two races. The Formula E organizers are in contact with the FIA and local authorities to establish a health protocol allowing spectator access.
On the other hand, the races scheduled in Mexico and Sanya are postponed until further notice due to the health crisis. Initially planned between the Santiago and Diriyah rounds, the race in Mexico will not be able to take place. Indeed, in its statement, Formula E explains that the priority remains safety:
« We prioritize the health and safety of our staff and the entire Formula E community: teams, manufacturers, partners, drivers, and fans, as well as the citizens and residents of the cities in which we race. »
Formula E is still searching for other destinations around the globe. Paris, Monaco, New York, and London are considered potential locations. However, they have not been officially confirmed due to uncertainties surrounding the ability to host a race in these cities affected by COVID-19.
« Formula E continues to work with local authorities to monitor the situation and is in constant communication with teams, manufacturers, partners, TV broadcasters, and drivers. The next series of races will be confirmed in early 2021. »
As a reminder, the last Formula E Championship concluded on August 13 in Berlin, after the 6 rounds held on the different Tempelhof tracks. Portuguese driver Antonio Félix da Costa won the drivers’ title, and his team DS Techeetah claimed the constructors’ title.
