Second to last in the championship last season, Mahindra is counting on the new Gen3 Evo single-seater and the stability of its driver duo to climb up the hierarchy. Present in the championship since the very first season in 2014-2015, the Indian team based in Banbury, England, has been struggling for a few years.

With Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara on board of the new M11Electro, Mahindra will be able to rely on two drivers with extensive single-seater experience to add to a record that currently stands at 5 victories, 24 podiums, and 11 pole positions over a decade of competition.

The new single-seater is still adorned with a predominantly red livery tinged with white, grey, and black sidepods. In addition, Mahindra will supply its powertrain exclusively to its two factory team cars since ABT, which has been its customer for the past two seasons, will have a new Yamaha engine.

Before the scheduled pre-season tests from November 4th to 7th in Valencia, the drivers have already been able to test their single-seater for several days. Reliability already seems to be there with an average of 500 kilometers covered per day, making it one of the best starts for a new single-seater according to the team.

Its CEO Frédéric Bertrand is already looking forward to seeing the M11Electro back on track:

« It is always an exciting moment to launch a new car but also to celebrate a new chapter for Formula E. The M11Electro, revealed at our headquarters in Banbury, shows a livery centered around metallic red, satin grey, and carbon black. It represents a huge step forward in terms of technology with a new powertrain developed by Mahindra Racing, revised aerodynamics, and new suspensions. We are now looking forward to meeting the other teams in Valencia to see what our Gen3 Evo is capable of.

For his second season with Mahindra after a stint in F1 with AlphaTauri, Nyck de Vries is confident in the team’s future progress:

« It is always interesting when Formula E introduces a new car. It is important to continue advancing technology and this Gen3 Evo will add new elements during the race. » The season 7 champion notably refers to the fact that the new single-seater will be able to switch to four-wheel drive during certain phases such as starts or Attack Mode.

« I am confident that we can continue to reach new milestones and build on our momentum from the end of last season,” concluded the Dutchman.

Same enthusiasm for his teammate Edoardo Mortara. The Swiss sees the Gen3 Evo as an opportunity to perform:

« The first tests with the new car were promising but there is still a lot to do to improve ourselves. A new car is always an opportunity and finally seeing it in its new livery makes it real. I can’t wait to be in Valence to understand where we stand and which direction to go.

See you from November 4th to 7th for the pre-season tests in Valence, then in Sao Paulo on December 7th for the first race of the season.
