Replacement for Endurance legend Tom Kristensen at Audi, alongside Lucas di Grassi and Loïc Duval, Oliver Jarvis shared his impressions regarding the championship and the battle between the LMP1s this season. For him, speed will be on the agenda.

« We worked very hard all winter and [Audi] moved from the 2 megajoules category to the 4 megajoules category, and our aerodynamics have undergone major changes. » In the 4 MJ category, cars are allocated 3.84 liters of diesel per lap. By comparison, Porsche is in the 8 MJ category with 4.76 liters of gasoline per lap allowed.

« Everyone did an incredible job to find 3-4 seconds better during the tests compared to last year at Paul Ricard; it’s a huge step forward. If you had asked any driver at the end of last year to predict how much time we were going to gain, they wouldn’t have said this much, » he stated to our American colleagues at Motorsport.com. « All the credit goes to the engineers at Audi Sport, Toyota, and Porsche. The year is certainly going to be fascinating. »

Even if he is a little frustrated not to know more, he remains very optimistic for the upcoming WEC season: “We are coming back from tests at Paul Ricard a bit unsatisfied regarding the hierarchy that will be in Silverstone, except for the fact that it will be very tight.” The 6 Hours of Silverstone are scheduled for next April 12.
