Fässler and Jani (also) appreciated
The 6 Hours of Silverstone, the first round of the WEC, showcased an intense battle between Audi, Porsche, and Toyota. Marcel Fässler and Neel Jani notably contributed to the excitement at the end of a close race.

The first round of the WEC received unanimous acclaim after the 6 Hours of Silverstone. Audi, Porsche, and Toyota put on a great show and perfectly kicked off the fourth edition of the Endurance Championship. But one of the standout moments was the final battle between the Audi #7 of Marcel Fässler and the Porsche #18 of Neel Jani. The two drivers engaged in an intense duel in the final laps and enjoyed it.
« This was one of the best fights I’ve had in my entire career. I really enjoyed the whole race. I must say it was quite fair on Neel’s part to leave space and I think we raced well together. It was a bit annoying that he overtook me on the straights like that! »,” reacted one of the day’s winners, referring to the battle on the old starting line and then at Copse.
The crew of the Porsche #18, consisting of Jani, Dumas, and Lieb, must have truly appreciated their second place on the podium. It must be said that the performance of the reigning champions’ Toyota, driven by Davidson and Buemi, combined with rather cool temperatures at the start of the race, penalized Porsche. « At the beginning, we struggled a bit to get the brakes up to temperature, but everything got back to normal and I was able to get back into the rhythm, confirms Jani. I really enjoyed the race with Marcel, especially since we can trust each other while driving side-by-side without touching. Obviously, I couldn’t help but smile on the straights. »
But in the end, it was likely Fässler who laughed the most by winning with a 4.610-second lead.
