Porsche will also test Kevin Magnussen
Juan-Pablo Montoya will not be the only driver tested by Porsche. Kevin Magnussen, Oliver Turvey, and Mitch Evans will each conduct a test at the wheel of the 919, while Toyota will evaluate Sam Bird.

With fewer and fewer seats available in Formula 1, young drivers are increasingly looking towards the WEC to try to secure a full-time seat within a manufacturer team. Kevin Magnussen, not retained by McLaren, finds himself in this situation. He has therefore been included in the list of drivers that Porsche will evaluate during the upcoming tests at the Barcelona circuit, intended for young drivers.
However, he will not be the only candidate as Oliver Turvey and Mitch Evans will also take the wheel of the Porsche. The latter two know each other well, having climbed to the second step of the podium in the last 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2. While Oliver Turvey is still among the drivers protected by McLaren, which allows him to participate in the Japanese Super GT championship driving a Honda car, he also seems to be seeking a full-time opportunity.
Mitch Evans will not be the only New Zealand representative in GP2 as his compatriot Richie Stanaway, who recently secured a victory in the last race at Sochi, will be driving an Audi in the same tests.
As for the reigning world champions, Toyota, they will call upon Sam Bird, who was a test driver for Mercedes and is currently leading the LMP2 championship with two races remaining in the season.
