Modification of the 6 Hours of Fuji for Fernando Alonso
The WEC has decided to modify its calendar for the Super Season, moving the 6 Hours of Fuji forward by a week so that Toyota can field Fernando Alonso.

Here is news that is likely to create mixed reactions: the WEC has decided to do everything possible to allow Fernando Alonso to participate in the entire season, enabling him to potentially be crowned at the end of his second participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
When it was officially announced that the Spanish driver was joining Toyota Gazoo Racing in WEC, it was specified that McLaren had priority, meaning he would miss the 6 Hours of Fuji Speedway, which was scheduled at the same time as the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Austin.
Now this race is precisely Toyota’s home race, of which it is the promoter. It was therefore hardly conceivable for the Japanese manufacturer that the biggest star of its driver lineup would miss this event.
An agreement was therefore reached with the WEC and the FIA to change the date, which was moved forward by a week. Yet the paradox of the situation is that this date had precisely already been pushed back by a week to avoid conflicting with the finale of the American endurance championship, which takes place at the Petit Le Mans circuit in Atlanta.
This did not fail to provoke the anger of other drivers, who had already signed their contracts based on the respective schedules, like Oliver Pla. He did not hesitate to express his disapproval of such a decision.
