Juan Pablo Montoya present at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with United Autosports
There will be two contenders for the Triple Crown as Juan-Pablo Montoya will participate in his first 24 Hours of Le Mans at the wheel of an LMP2 fielded by United Autosports.

Since last year, there has been a lot of talk about Fernando Alonso’s quest for the Triple Crown. The Spaniard started by attempting to win the Indianapolis 500 last year before trying his luck at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year with Toyota.
But one driver is more advanced in this quest. It’s Juan-Pablo Montoya, winner of the Indianapolis 500 in 2000 and 2015 and the Monaco Grand Prix in 2003. Until now, he had never participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, even though he had conducted tests with Porsche at the end of 2015. However, Volkswagen group’s financial problems had led to the cancellation of the third car.
Finally, it was announced today that the Colombian will indeed start in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year with United Autosports. This team is owned by Zak Brown, the director of McLaren, and had hosted Fernando Alonso and Lando Norris at the 24 Hours of Daytona last month.
Last year, the American team managed to stand out as they finished 5th overall while competing in LMP2, which gives confidence to the former IndyCar, F1, and Nascar driver: « I am very excited about this opportunity to experience Le Mans and look forward to joining United Autosports after their strong performance last year. I have always watched the race, so I am pleased to finally be a part of it. Hopefully, we can aim for victory. »
If it seems unlikely that an LMP2 car will win this year, Juan-Pablo Montoya can aim for victory in the category, which would translate to almost a Triple Crown or a Silver Triple Crown.
