Deborah Mayer wishes to promote the visibility of women in motorsports
The new President of Women in Motorsport within the FIA organized a meeting with all women, drivers as well as team members, at a conference during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

It was on a symbolic date that Deborah Mayer assumed the presidency of the FIA Women in Motorsport commission. Indeed, she took office on March 8th, the International Women’s Rights Day.
Since her election, the former driver who is behind the Iron Dames project (an all-female crew at Le Mans) has expressed her desire to continue the work of Michèle Mouton, who had been its president since 2009. She has been the backbone of this Commission for the past 12 years, leading great strides in increasing female participation from grassroots to the highest level of motor racing, she stated during her promotion.
My passion for racing and the inclusiveness of women in motorsport is something that is very dear to me. I will give everything for this cause, and I believe that with initiatives like FIA Women in Motorsport, we have the measures in place to make it a reality.
Promoting the role of women in the automotive industry
This Friday, June 10th, as part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the new president wished to gather all the women, both drivers and team members, who make up the paddock of the greatest endurance race.
« This is an opportunity to get to know each other, to learn about each other, and to establish the steps for our upcoming meetings that we are organizing together, hoping that more and more women will join us at the next event. It is also an opportunity for us to exchange ideas about what we do in our teams, in our roles at the FIA, in different organizations, on and off the track, and what we could do to not only develop the current project that we all have, that we have within the FIA Commission, that you have within your different team organizations, and what we could do to bring new talents, new faces to our organizations worldwide.

The purpose of these meetings will be to find solutions to promote women’s place in the automotive industry and bring visibility to what we all do and what makes us strong. Partnerships could also be established with the International Motor Federation to enhance their movement.
