Pascal Vasselon: “We couldn’t have done better.”
The technical director of Toyota reflects on the Hyperpole session. His two cars finished far behind the Ferraris, which will occupy the front row on the starting grid.

« We couldn’t have done better. We can’t say we could have been close to Ferrari. » Pascal Vasselon, the technical director of Toyota, admits it: Ferrari was much faster during the hyperpole. During this short 30-minute session, the two red cars dominated the discussions, with the track record in Hypercar as a result.
The Japanese cars, who have been on a winning streak of five victories here, were lagging behind. One and a half seconds separate Antonio Fuoco’s Ferrari and Brendon Hartley’s Toyota.
It wasn’t a good session for us. We had a red flag when we were on a fast lap. And, according to the regulations, we couldn’t change tires or refuel. We had to restart with little fuel and the same tires, said the French driver.
The Japanese team will try to make amends, starting at 4:00 PM this Saturday, June 10, in order to achieve a sixth consecutive victory in Le Mans. And this, for the first time with factory competition after the departures of Audi and Porsche from LMP1.
