The Hypercar field (GTP in the United States) is already making dream. So what can we say about the one that is coming in GT3? The GTE-Am category is experiencing its final year, after fifteen years of good and loyal service. Currently, Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, and Aston Martin are leading the way through customer programs or semi-official programs (in the case of Corvette).

Next year, the GT3 is expected to see more manufacturers join the grid of the WEC and, consequently, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This will be the case for Ford: the devilish GT, which was a kind of prototype, has found the brand new Mustang GT3 as its successor.

She was unveiled on Friday, in the constructor’s village of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It all started with a statement, on a screen, from Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley. All smiles, he declared, “We’re not going to recreate a Ford vs Ferrari, referring to the 1966 edition. It will be Ford against the whole world! There are many races in the world, but there is only one 24 Hours of Le Mans. We can’t wait for you to hear our Mustang roar in the night.”

You will have to savor it well, as the V8 engine of Ford’s new monster will have a capacity of 5.4 liters. It’s safe to say that it will be music to the ears of enthusiasts.

Multimatic: a valuable partner

This Mustang was also an opportunity for Ford Performance to unveil a new visual identity. The blue Ford logo on a white background has made way for blue and orange, with a sleeker and more modern style.

The car was made in collaboration with Multimatic, the current supplier of LMDh and LMP2 chassis. Larry Hort, the boss himself, was the representative during the presentation and testified to all the work that had to be done.

This car is made as part of our partnership with Ford. It required thousands of hours of computer work: we have brought a true marvel into the world. And since we will be driving in the Pro-Am, we made sure that this car is both fast and comfortable for enthusiasts.

Proton Competition as the first client

This GT3 arrival, on both sides of the Atlantic, will also be done in partnership with Proton Competition, which was the first team to announce its commitment to private Mustangs. Ford will be represented on both sides of the Atlantic and will make its grand debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2024.

It should also be mentioned that Ford is starting to make a strong comeback in motorsports. This observation is elaborated by Mark Rushbrook, the director of Ford Performance Motorsports. This program is all the more exciting as it complements a large series of competition commitments for Ford. This goes hand in hand with our arrival in F1 in 2026.

Next year, four Mustang GT3 will compete in endurance racing: two will be entered in the WEC and two in the IMSA. Who can top that?
