Peugeot is relying on reliability in Fuji and Bahrain

The Lion brand approaches the 6 hours with an ambition: to show that both cars can frequently compete for podium finishes. But for that, the mechanics have to hold up.

That’s its major weakness. If the 9X8 displays edgy and aggressive lines, in contrast, reliability is a little kitten. We’ve seen it several times this season. The Peugeot is as fragile as glass. At Sebring, car number 94 broke down during the warm-up lap.

In the following races, a few solutions have been found, even if some parts tended to break. It is from Le Mans that the 9X8 already found pace and reliability. This first step translated into a podium finish at the 6 Hours of Monza, in mid-July.

« Our goal will be to be 100% reliable »

The third place of the crew of the 93 has made Peugeot hungry, and now they want to fight more often for the podium. « We are entering the final part of the season, and our goal will be to be 100% reliable in the remaining two races and to fight at the forefront with our two Peugeot 9X8 cars. Therefore, we will prepare ourselves as best as possible before these two races in order to be consistent in our performance and our sporting results », says Olivier Jansonnie, the technical director of Peugeot Sport.

An opinion shared with Loïc Duval, driver of car number 94, who acknowledges that after a difficult start, the Lion has finally been tamed and has become stronger. « We just want to keep up the momentum and do even better for the end of the season », says the Frenchman.
