These are the two best qualifications of Porsche this season. So far, the German cars have been performing better in IMSA than in WEC. But at Fuji, the most successful manufacturer in Le Mans reacted.

On the Japanese track, Porsche number 5 and 6 finished just behind the two untouchable Toyota cars on their home turf. Kévin Estre, driving car number 6, achieved the third fastest time of the session. The car felt better than during the qualifying, which allowed us to obtain our best result in the race for the fastest times. It’s proof that our hard work is paying off. We’re constantly improving, assures the Frenchman.

Hopes for the race

An opinion shared by Fred Makowiecki, his garage mate, who, aboard the sister car, set the fourth fastest time. And this, to form a second 100% Porsche row. « It’s an excellent result for us. We have made significant progress with the car. I am proud to see how much we have improved since the beginning of the season. »

The Frenchman aboard number 5 believes that this qualifying performance bodes well for the race, which will start at 4 o’clock, French time. « I think the car will also perform well in the race. I am really optimistic. Even if the weather conditions change during the day, I am not worried at all. During the practice sessions, we achieved good results in both wet and dry conditions », says Fred Makowiecki.

In front too in GTE-AM

In GT as well, Porsche shone, once again with the Iron Dames showing that they were not just here for show. The all-female crew achieved the second best time in GTE-AM, just 35 milliseconds behind the Corvette number 33.

« The qualifications were incredibly tight. I wanted to do everything to perform a last quick lap right at the end, but unfortunately, it was too late to improve my time. The first line of the grid is excellent. I will try to overtake Ben Keating at the front in the early laps », Sarah Bovy announces in the Porsche 85.
