Aston Martin commits to Hypercar for Le Mans 2025
Aston Martin had teased it yesterday, it's now official. The English manufacturer is going to compete in the highest endurance category, the Hypercar, in an attempt to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2025.
Aston Martin will use the Valkyrie model to design a new prototype capable of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2025 in the highest category, the hypercars. The team will thus compete with Alpine, Ferrari, Cadillac, Toyota, Vanwall, Porsche, Lamborghini, BMW and Isotta Fraschini.
In this case, the Valkyrie will be the first Hypercar model to truly be based on a production model. That is, if we exclude Glickenhaus with its 007.
Rumors were rife about the return of the legendary British brand. And the press release sent to announce the good news confirms the rising power of the manufacturer in the automotive landscape.
« We have been present at Le Mans since our very beginnings and have won 19 times in our category since 1959. We are going to write a new page in our history, with a prototype inspired by our Valkyrie. In addition to our commitment in Formula 1, our return to the top of endurance will allow us to increase our connection with our customers. »
Double WEC/IMSA program
Like Alpine, Porsche or Cadillac, Aston Martin will send a Valkyrie to the world championship and another across the Atlantic.
The pilots, at this stage, are not yet known. Let’s find out what Lawrence Stroll might have in store for Lance Stroll.
The two cars could therefore be invited together to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with one bearing the 007, as in the illustrations, the other the 008.
The field of the top category will continue to grow until 2025 and testify to an exceptional enthusiasm for Hypercar. A crazy field to which could possibly be added other brands, like Honda…and why not McLaren?
