The news is surprising, even if it was expected. Financially struggling for several months, Glickenhaus had given up participating in the last two rounds of the 2023 championship: Fuji and Bahrain. In 2024, it will be the whole season.

« No, we are not going to commit ourselves. To be competitive, we should make an advanced version of the car and run two. It’s not viable for a private individual: the only way to do it would be with sponsors, or if a client wanted to run a program with our car », says Jim Glickenhaus, the boss of the team.

No more WEC, but…

He justifies this choice due to a lack of sponsors. And this despite, good performances in WEC and at the 24 hours of Le Mans, with a podium in 2022 and having finished ahead of Porsche and Peugeot, this year. « We stepped on the podium in 2022, and this year, we beat Porsches and other Peugeots, hard to do better! We were major players in the championship when they needed us. »

However, the American does not forbid himself from participating in other endurance races, worldwide, with the 24 hours of Nürburgring in his sights. « We will return to the Nürburgring one day, because we promote what we sell. »
